The below information was added by Della Thetford Polasek, her great, great granddaughter through her son Reason A. Thetford:

Hester Wilson Gray Thetford married Dennis Thetford in 1829 in Gibson County, Tennessee. The co-signer for their marriage license was her brother Nicholas H. Milton "Ned" Gray. Gibson County, if not all of Tennessee, had discontinued the reading of the marriage bans in church and replaced it with a guarantee/cosigner system. The co-signer guaranteed that the marriage would take place within 1 year of the issuance of the license, otherwise a fine of $1,250.00 would have to be paid.

I don't know much about Hester except that she and Dennis met and married in Tennessee and they moved to Missouri after the birth of their first 3 sons. They had 3 more sons while they lived in Missouri and one more son after they moved to Texas. Her brother Nicholas H. Gray also lived in Missouri at the time they did and both he and their other brother, Dr. Robert N. Gray III all moved to Texas at the same time and Robert and Nicolas were also granted land through the Mercer Colony. Hester appears on the censuses until the 1860 census taken in Victoria, Texas where Dennis and some of the sons were living at the time, so it appears she passed away before that census was taken. I have not been able to locate her grave.
