In 1763, Nathaniel signed a receipt for his share of his father's estate.[2]
Land Records
In 1763, Nathaniel and Jeremiah bought from Mercy Little, 50 acres of land in Plymouth that had been part of Ward's homestead.[3]
In 1767, Nathaniel Holmes of Plymouth, mariner, bought from his brothers William and Jeremiah Holmes, 21 acres of land lying in Plymouth at Eell River, being part of the homestead that had belonged to their father, Ebenezer Holmes, decd.[4]
In 1775, Nathaniel and his wife Chloe sold land to her brother Willard Sears.[5]
He died in 1801 in Plymouth.
Probate
The will of Nathaniel Holmes of Plymouth, yeoman was dated 12 November 1801 and proved on 8 February 1802 in Plymouth. He mentioned his wife Chloe, and his children, Ebenezer Holmes, Elizabeth Nichols, wife of Eleazer Nichols, Rebecca Howard, wife of Ezra Howard, and Patience Holmes. He appointed Willard Sears and Thomas Morton, Jr. to be his executors.[6]
His inventory was taken on 10 March 1802. The real estate was his homestead and building, and half of about 50 acres of land, called Ward's land.[7]
In 1803, an account of his estate by Willard Sears, and Thomas Morton Jr. was recorded which included the sale of land, debts paid, personal estate to the widow, appraisers, and administration fees.[8]
