Biography

Niklaus Habegger was born about 1602 in Switzerland.[1]

Niklaus is supposed to have married twice. His first marriage was to Anna Rothlisberger (1604) on October 11, 1624.[1] They had 9 children between 1625 and 1642.[1] His second marriage was to Barbara Fritsch (1620) sometime between 1642 and 1649.[1][2] Four children were added to the family through this union between 1649 and 1658.[1]

Research Notes

  • Marriage: 03 Aug 1647, Switzerland
    • 2 children
      • Hans (1659)
      • Barbara (1670)
    • The date of this marriage fits the marriage of Niklaus Habegger and Barbara Fritsch. However the number and names of the children do not match, nor do the dates make sense with the marriage date. These children most likely were born to a different Niklaus and Barbara. Could that be the reason for Niklaus having two potential sets of parents?
  • Parents Marriage: 1598
    • Niklaus may have been the son of Vincenz Habegger (1562) and Anna Krayenbuhl (1564)[1] or the son of Hans Habegger (1540) and Catherina Blaser (1576).[3]
