Biography

Norwood R was born in 1903. He was the son of Theodore Humphrey and Sarah Rockwell. He passed away in 1976. ^[1]

Norwood R. Humphrey Sr. of Broadway East Apartments died at Benedictine Hospital Saturday evening. He was a native of Olivebridge and a son of the late Theodore and Sarah Rockwell Humphrey. He was an electrician and had resided in the Kingston area all of his life. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 806 and Excelsior Hose Co. No. 4. During World War I, he served with the New York State National Guard, Battery B, 156th Field Artillery. Mr. Humphrey is survived by his wife, the former Florence Mack; seven daughters: Mrs. Thomas Hose of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Donald R. Glass of Kingston, Mrs. Charlotte Rowles of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Frank G. Hermance of Kingston, Mrs. Jose Menendez of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Charles Ballard of Norfolk, Va., Miss Christine Humphrey of Kingston; eight sons: Frank of Fairfield, Conn., Norwood Jr. of Valdosta, Ga., Harold and Henry of Kingston, William of Tampa, Fla., Thoedore of Kingston, Francis, USN, of Norfolk, Va., and John Humphrey of Tampa, Fla.; 32 grandchildren, a great grandchild. The funeral will be held at the Jenson & Deegan Funeral Home, Inc., 15 Downs Street, Wednesday 11 a.m. The Rev. Alvin Messersmith Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Luthern Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Wiltwyck Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening 7-9 and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9.
