Biography

James was the son of James & Elizabeth (Tomlinson) Hard

He married Hannah Kimberley in CT - parents of Elizabeth, Hannah, Abner, James, Amos, Prudence, Abraham, Ann, John & others

His will is dated 14 December 1764 in Newtown and proved on 13 June 1766 in Danbury. He mentions his wife Hannah, and his children, Abner, James, Abraham, Amos, and Zadock, Lois, wife of Nathan Sherwood of Ridgefield, Ann, wife of Andrew Hawley of New Milford, Elizabeth, wife of Elnathan Nichols of Stratford, the children of Prudence Moss, wife of William Moss ( Sarah & Prudence Moss), and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Foot, George, James, and John Foot, children of his deceased daughter Hannah Foot.[1]

In 1766, his children, Abner Hard, James Hard, Abraham Hard, Amos Hard, Zadock Hard, Nathan Sherwood (Lois), Andrew Hawley (Ann), and his widow, Hannah all signed an estate distribution agreement.[2]

In 1766, some of his heirs made a complaint to the probate court against his executors, Abner Hard, and James Hard did not take an inventory of his estate.[3]
