Biography

John Conant Besse was born in Wareham, Massachusetts on June 6, 1811 to Robert Besse and Mary Conant[1]

John married Phebe Godfrey Eldridge in Wareham on December 28, 1830[2]

John and Phebe had the following children:

  1. Phebe Grafton Besse, b. 1832
  2. Sally Ann Besse, b. 1834
  3. Abby Godfrey Besse, b. 1836
  4. Juline K. Besse, b.1839
  5. Julia Ann Besse, b. 1842
  6. Margaret Wood Besse, b. 1842
  7. Emaline A. Besse, b.1844
  8. John Conant Besse, Jr, b. 1850
  9. Emmeretta Frances Besse, b. 1852

John Conant Besse passed away in Wareham on April 20, 1870 at age 58.[3] The cause of death was listed as epilepsy.
