Mary was born about 1360. She was the daughter of William Douglas and Elizabeth Maxwell. She passed away about 1370. [1]
Note: Mary's date of birth was prior to 1360. She died in childbirth in 1367.
When William Douglas, Mary's father died in 1653 she inherited his lands. In 1351 William had granted the lands to his nephew James, to be received if William died without a male heir. When Mary died in childbirth in 1367, leaving James as heir in line. [2]

There is no record of the Knight of Liddesdale's marriage but he left a daughter Mary, who according to agreement, went to England as hostage for her father. On June 24, 1357 King Edward granted license to his vallet, Peter Tempest to marry, Maria , the daughter of Sir William de Douglas, knight, who had been delivered by her father as a hostage in England. However, this license was not put into effect. In 1361, Mary of Douglas married Reginald, son and heir of Sir William More, of Abercore. Reginald divorced her before 1365 upon discovery that her father William had left his land's to Mary's cousins. In 1365, Mary recieved Papal consent to marry, Thomas, son and heir, of Sir Robert Erskine. Mary died in childbirth in 1367. [3]
