Records indicate that William Teate was christened 12 April 1702 in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent, Virginia, British Colonial America, listed as William, son of James Teate ^{[1] [2]} His father, James William Tate III, was 40 and his mother, Anne, was 38. ^{[citation needed]}

William married Sarah Skelton^{[citation needed]} before 1719, in Virginia. Sarah was b 1704 Harrison or Bristol, Virginia, d 1760 Lunenburg, Virginia. Her parents were John Skelton and Susannah Edwards^{[citation needed]}.
