Biography

Francis Prittie was born in Ireland.

Francis William Prittie was born on 15 December 1839 in Ireland, his father, Francis Prittie, was 28 and his mother, Mary Rose, was 17. He was christened on 23 January 1840 at Aberdour, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^[1].

His mother died in 1844. His father remarried.

He was with the 97th Foot, and gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1863 in the 92nd Foot. Francis retired in May 1865, and emigrated from Ireland to New Zealand.

He died on 27 May 1866 at the age of 26. Letters of Administration of his personal estate were granted on 27 May 1866 at the Principal Registry to Hon. Francis Sadleir Prittie of Glenview (near Clonmel), County Waterford, the father and only next of kin^[2]. Effects under £200
