Biography

Fred was born in Richmond, Rhode Island on 14 April 1879, the second child of Harrison Burdick, age 35, a farmer, born in Connecticut, and Amy K. Larkin, ag 33, born in Richmond.^[1] Fred's birth was registered on 16 February 1880, almost a year after it occurred. There is no explanation for the discrepancy between the date in the state death records and the date used in Fred's obituary and in draft registration cards he completed.

Fred married Amy Larkin in North Stonington, Connecticut on 21 July 1901.^[2]

Obituary: Fred V. Burdick, 71, of 8 Noyes Street, Pawcatuck, a retired painter, died unexpectedly early yesterday [2 September 1950] at his home. He had been a resident of Pawcatuck for 46 years. Mr. Burdick, the husband of the late Amy L. (Larkin) Burdick, was born in Carolina, Feb. 26, 1879, a son of the late Harrison and Amy (Larkin) Burdick. Before his retirement in 1946 he had been employed at the Electric Boat Co. in Groton. He is survived by a daughter, Miss Dorothy Irene Burdick of Pawcatuck; three sons, Clarence E. of Pawcatuck, Carroll of Bradford, and Joseph of Ashaway, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday [5 September 1950] at 10 a.m. at Harvey W. Buckler Funeral Home, 121 Main Street, Westerly. Burial will be in White Brook Cemetery, Carolina.^[3]
