Biography

George Rogers was born in 1729. His parents were William Rogers and Dinah (Rankin) Rogers[1]. Tradition in the Rogers family states that George was born on the ship during his family's emigration from Ireland; the record of his birth in Phippsburg may have been recorded upon their arrival[2].

He married Margaret Campbell in 1751 in Georgetown, Maine[3]. They had four children[4]:

1. Dinah, born 29 Jul 1752; married Joseph Skolfield
2. Alexander, born 23 Jan 1754; married Margaret (Wilson) Hunter
3. William, born 15 Aug 1755; never married
4. James, born 6 Jul 1757; married 1st Mary Mustard, 2nd Lydia Thompson, 3rd Mrs. Mary Ridley

After Margaret's death, he married Alice Phinney in 1762[5]. They had two children[4]:

1. George, born 24 Jan 1765
2. Alice

George passed away on 27 November 1818 in Freeport, Maine and is buried in Flying Point Cemetery[6].
