Annie Marie Larsen was born 24 June 1878 in Øster Svenstrup, Øster Han (district), Hjørring county, Denmark.
The daughter of Karen Marie Nielsen and Jorgen Larsen.
Her parents met on a cattle farm where they both worked. They were married in 1880 and lived in nearby Brovst where four of her brothers were born.
In the spring of 1888 the Larsens sold their farm to immigrate to the United States. Annie was 10 years old. Mr. Larsen came first to see the country, stayed 6 months then went back for his wife and children, They were 13 days crossing the ocean on the ship Geiser(?) from Copenhagen to New York.
They first settled in Pocatello Idaho, where they stayed 2 ½ years. Not being able to understand or speak the English language made it hard for them.
The Indians would come and visit them. These were the first Indians they had ever seen and the family was very frightened of them. They lived near the railroad yards where the boys played. One day the neighbor boys' leg was but off while trying to catch onto a freight train.
The accident worried Mr. and Mrs. Larsen to the extent that they moved to Logan Utah in April 1891.
They lived in Logan 4 years, and then moved to Wellsville Utah in the spring of 1895.
Annie married William Riggs Poppleton on 6 Dec 1899 in Logan, Utah. They lived in Wellsville where they raised their family.
