George's will was written in May 1530, a few months before his death, he asked for his body to be buried without any embalming in his aisle at the parish church. His commendation was a simple one, describing himself one of the 'elect of God' and reflecting his puritan approach to religion . George had been unwell for some time before his death, leaving ten pounds to "Katherine Darbye for taking paines with me in my longe sickness " Apart from a couple of amendments to leases, his will concerned mainly his goods and chattels rather than the succession of his estates.
He made bequests to the poor of Charminster, Stratton and Lytchett Mattravers and made provision for an 'ould' servant and small sums of money for three other servants. Several of his relatives received small bequests.
His son Thomas was appointed executor, the overseers were his 'good friend Richard Swayne, his son in law John Browne, together with Richard Wright and Andrew Kelney.full transcription of will [4]
