Biography

Elizabeth (Gordon) Stewart was born in Scotland.

Elizabeth was the daughter of George Gordon, 4th Earl Huntly and Elizabeth Keith, Countess of Huntly^[1] daughter of Robert Keith, Earl Marischal.^[2] She was born in 1530.

She married John Stewart, 4th Earl of Atholl before 26 Mar 1547. ^[3][4]

Research Notes

James Balfour Paul claims that her mother's father was William, Earl of Marischal and gives as his source a contract of marriage in Spalding - Vol. IV, p. 139,^[2] but a perusal of that contract shows that the William that is referred to is her brother not father.

She passed away about 1559.
