Biography

Sir Patrick Barnewall of Fieldston, Gracedieu, and Turvey. On 7 October 1534 he was made serjeant-at-law and solicitor general, and on 1 October 1550, Master of the Rolls. By his marriage with Anne, eldest daughter of Richard Luttrell, of Luttrellstown, he left issue (with three daus., the eldest of whom became the wife of Sir Patrick Barnewall of Crickstown), a son and successor:

  1. Sir Christopher Barnewall of Turvey who was high sheriff of the соunty Dublin in 1560; he married Marian, daughter of Patrick Sherle, of Shallon со, Meath, and sister and heiress of John Sherle. Sir Christopher built the present mansion at Turvey and dying in 1607 left issue.

  1. Patrick, inherited his father's estates, and was the father of the 1st Viscount Barnewall

  4. Margaret, who married Nicholas St Lawrence, 9th Baron Howth

  6. Alison, who married John Plunkett
  7. Elizabeth, who married Richard Finglas
  8. Anne
  9. Mabel, who married Sir Richard Masterson
  10. Ismay, who married Richard Delahide
  11. Eleanor, who married James Dillon, 1st Earl of Roscommon
  12. Maud, who married Richard Nugent
  13. Mary, who married Patrick Plunkett, 7th Baron Dunsany[1]

Lady Barnewall remarried the prominent judge Sir Lucas Dillon, who was father by his first wife of Eleanor's husband, James, the 1st Earl of Roscommon.[2]
