George Clapsaddle was born on September 12, 1767 in German Flatts, Herkimer, Province of New York, son of Augustinus Clapsaddle (1727–1777) and Maria Barbara Wentz (1735–1828).
George married Hannah Marie Dygert (born on April 18, 1765 in Frankfort, Frankfort, Herkimer). Their children were:
