Research Notes

Findagrave has the DOB as "February 12, 1792". An unsourced family tree handed down to John Ditty has the DOB as "December 2, 1792." However, his age as stated in the 1850 and 1860 censuses would put his year of birth at 1802.

There are other problems to be resolved: The marriage record for John, which does not mention his wife´s name, is too close to her reported birth year. In addition, we have no records of a Susan Grigg. However, we see John´s niece, Evaline Trigg, the daughter of his sister Susanna Trigg, living in his household in 1860. While it would be plausible that the Susan Grigg living in his household in 1850 (with no relationship recorded) could in fact be Susanna Ditty Trigg, not only is she much too young, but both Susanna and Evaline appear at a different residence in the same county during the same census.
