John Rule first appears on a list of Captain Cantrill Company of taxable property for 1792 in Sumner County Tennessee containing 640 acres and 1 pole. [3]

John Rule appears on a list of Captain Cantrell's company of taxable property for 1793 in Sumner County Tennessee containing 1 pole and 640 acres. [4]

John Ruyl appears on a list of the taxable property for 1795 in Sumner County Tennessee containing 1 free pole and 640 acres on Mansker's Creek. [5]

John, son of Henry,I and Catherine Ruyle, married (1) Polly Bird, daughter of Thomas and Jane Bird, 17 March 1792, Sumner Co., TN/NC. To this marriage were born: Mary, John L.,II, Henry, Albert G., Abel, Alfred, Jane and Lucina. Married (2) Ann Gilpin, daughter of Eli Gilpin and Rebecca DeFord, 05 April 1821, Sumner Co., TN. To this marriage were born: Randolph, Margaret, Rachel and Denina.

His sons Alfred Ruyle and John Ruyle made application with the Probate Office in Carrollton, Illinois on 14 March 1842 that John L Ruyle is deceased and prayed that administration of his estate be granted to them. Albert Ruyle made affidavit that said John L. Ruyle departed this life on or about 26 February 1842 and that he died intestate to the best of his belief and knowledge. [6]

Note: no record of where in Greene Co.,IL, that John is buried. There is record of his estate being settled and record of his casket being paid for. Polly Bird died in Sumner Co.,TN.
