Biography

Hannah was born on September 24, 1805 in Buncombe County, North Carolina to Nicholas Woodfin and Hannah Ashbrook Woodfin. About 1810, she accompanied her parents and siblings to Bedford County, Tennessee. There, she met and married Thomas Haile in about 1827. The couple had the following children: Leemon, 1830-1896; Martha, April 25, 1833-October 18, 1893; Mary, April 25, 1833-July 1, 1921; Marilluss, December 25, 1837-May 4, 1866; Eliza, b. 1842; Nicholas Richard, b. 1844-d. after 1900. In the late 1840s the family relocated to first Wayne County, Missouri, and then to Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. After the death of her husband in 1867, Hannah lived with her bachelor son, Richard Haile, at the family home until 1891. In that year Hannah and Dick moved to the home of Hannah's daughter and Richard's sister, Mary Haile Wheeler in Plano, Collin County, Texas. Hannah Woodfin Haile passed away on September 8, 1900. She is buried in the Big Springs Cemetery in Garland, Dallas County, Texas. ^[1]
