A native of Silver Point, Mr Carr was elected Putnam County Registrar while still a young man, serving in that capacity for several years. His connection with the State government began about 1903, when he accepted the position of clerk in the office of the Secretary of State. He remained in that position for 14 years. Later he was elected representative from Putnam County for 1919-21. At the expiration of his term, he became involved with the State Board of Equalization, serving for 3 years; afterward taking up the position of clerk of the State Department of Institutions, in which he continued until 1928, when he accepted his post with the City of Nashville. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura Burton Carr, and the following children: Mrs. H G Maddox, Buffalo Valley; Joe C Carr, Nashville, Clerk of the House of Representatives; Mrs. James Champion, Mrs. H L Griggs, Sheldon and Albert Carr of Nashville.
