Billy Wilburn was born on July 19, 1928 at Knoxville General Hospital[1][2] in Knoxville, Tennessee.
On the 1930 Census, he was enumerated with his mother Goldie Wilson, and his two older siblings, Jackie Moyers and Burt Moyers. At that time, he was still using the last name of his mother's ex-husband, John Moyers. Billy's father, Oscar Wilburn, was also living in the household as a boarder.
On March 13, 1943, he was working for the bowling alley on Main Street[3] in Knoxville.
He enlisted in the military on July 21, 1948 in Atlanta. He was honorably discharged at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on May 23, 1955, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal on May 25, 1955.
He died on January 20, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana from metastatic carcinoma of the brain and carcinoma of the lung[4][2]. When he passed away, he was living at 3601 Texas Drive, Apt. 613, 70114[4][2] in New Orleans. He was buried on January 22, 1982 at Westlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Plot: GS-25A-3[4] in Gretna, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
