Elizabeth is definitely not the daughter of Jacob HAGLER & Frances ROBINS as said by many secondary sources, if for no other reason than that Jacob and Frances were not married until 1786 and Elizabeth (HAGLER) CHRISMAN had her first child known child in 1789.

There were basically two groups of HAGLERS pre-1800 in the Carolinas, one centered in Wilkes Co., NC -- descendants of Swiss immigrant, Johannes HAEGLER (a.k.a., John HAGLER) — and the other centered around Mecklenburg Co., NC, and the adjacent Craven Dist. of SC.

Marriage: bef. 1789, presumably Mecklenburg [now Cabarrus] Co., NC Wife: Elizabeth HAGLER Birth said to be: 1773 or 1776/7, Garmany, Newberry Co., SC Death: 7 Sep 1848, Geneva, Scott Co., IL Father possibly: Jacob HAGLER Mother possibly: Ms. BRYANT A birthdate of 1776/7 is much too late if Elizabeth is having a son in January of 1789; the 1773 date is at least plausible. Some sources say she was born in "Germany," but that appears to be a mis-interpretation of "Garmany." However, the Garmany location is totally "off the wall." I have, so far, found no record of any HAGLER in Newberry Co. (96-Dist.) that early. In fact, I wonder if "Garmany" isn't a mis-interpretation of "Germany." I'd much sooner believe she (or her parents) had been born in Germany.
