Biography

John was born in 1842 in Aroostook County, Maine. Aroostook County is adjacent to York County, New Brunswick, where John's future wife, Lydia Dow, grew up. It is possible that they knew each other before moving to Wisconsin. Lydia and John were married in 1867 in Wisconsin.

In 1870, they were living in Belmont, Portage County, Wisconsin with their 2 children.[1] By 1880, they settled their family in Union, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.[2] By 1885, they had 6 children (4 boys, 2 girls - one of which died in infancy.)[3] By 1900, John and Lydia were living in Oasis, Waushara County, Wisconsin with sons George and Hubert.[4] John died in 1912 and was buried in North Deerfield Cemetery in Hancock, Waushara County, Wisconsin. I am new to this site, so I am not sure how this works. Our Whitney line stops at a John Whitney that was born in 1842 and was married to an Emma Payne, or Emeline Poin. I am not sure if this is the same John, or not. We don't have very accurate records. Anyways I am looking for the parents of Bernice Lawrence Whitney Born: August 18, 1866 in Buffalo, New York.
