This information came from Andrew Dessler Fleck: He thought his name was Daniel and his father and two brothers owned a bakery at Gettysburg. According to the 1900 Census, he said his occupation was "shoemaker".

First wife died in 1870 had 5 children, all dead except Daniel, age 34 (fire caused loss of records)

In the 1850 Census, his age is recorded as 53 (wife 39), giving a birth year Circa 1797-1798; in the 1860 Census, his age is recorded as 60 (wife 48), giving a birth year Circa 1800; in the 1870 Census, his age is recorded as 67 (wife 59), giving a birth year Circa 1803; in the 1880 Census, his age is recorded as 77 (wife 69), giving a birth year Circa 1803.In 1880, Daniel and Elizabeth were living with their daughter Mary and her husband William A. Death of Daniel Fleck;
It is with deep grief, the friends announce the death on Wednesday of Mr. Daniel Fleck, at his residence in Penn Township. He had been confined to his bed for several weeks past with what was pronounced by his physicians to be Bright's disease, which speedily assumed a dangerous form and his system having been much weakened by age, he sunk under the attack. Mr. Fleck needs no extensive eulogy. From a poor boy, "a stranger in a strange land" by his own industry, perseverance, and good sense, aided by an irreproachable moral character, he raised a family of 9 children -- 4 daughters and 5 sons -- who are all married and attained a home, station, and hosts of friends. In the Dunkard Church to which he belonged he was respected and loved. His wife is deprived of a tender husband and his children of a kind parent. He was 84 years of age. H is remains were interred on Thursday at the Brick Church Cemetery, near hs home. --Peace to his dust.

It is with deep grief the friends announce the death of Mr. Daniel Fleck, which occurred at his residence in Penn township on Thursday of last week. He had been confined to his bed for several weeks past with what was pronounced by his physician to be Bright's disease, but which finally assumed a dangerous form, and his system having been much weakened by age, he sunk under the attack. Poor old man! The father of nine children-five daughters and four sons-he had lived to be 84 years and 9 months old. To his sorrowing wife and family we can offer no consolation to alleviate their grief save only implicit confidence in the wisdom and dealings of that Heavenly Father who "doeth all things well," who gave and has taken away. Mr. Fleck needs no extensive eulogy to set forth his virtue and keep his memory green in the hearts of those who knew him intimately. In the religious denomination, the German Baptist, to which he belonged no one was more sincere and respected. In all his business relations, though very poor, he was just and true.
