From Mildred Joyce Smith:

Daniel K. enlisted in the 53 Infantry, Co. C., Sept 16, 1861, discharged 28 Dec 1862. Discharged because of Hypertrophy of the liver. Sick and in hospital at Alexandria, Va. since 10 Nov. 1862

Affadavid March 2, 1866: Age 32 resident of Marklesburg, Pa., occupation - blacksmith (also lived at James Creek and Robertsdale, Pa. at some time)

Also from Mildred Smith: Daniel K. Fleck's first wife died in 1870 after bearing five children; only surviving child was Daniel, age 34. Detailed records destroyed in a fire.

From Lucas Joseph Walter, Jr: This assessment seems to be in error. In 1870, her husband Daniel K. Fleck would have been 36; if the marriage date with Nancy Rodgers is correct, Nancy and Daniel married in 1898 when Daniel was 64 and Nacy was 46--and they had already had five children together.
