Agnes was born John Kirby and Catherine Lynan. On applying to join the convent she gave her birth as 1 January 1870, Her sister Kate Anne was born 9 July 1863 and had joined the convent in Ennis Ireland. Agnes was professed into the Sisters of Mercy in Singleton, NSW, Australia, in 1886, but it's likely she emigrated from Limerick, Ireland, with her older sister Kate Kirby on mission in 1881 (she would have been only 17, but it's not inconceivable). Agnes took the name Sister Mary Ursula.[1]
She worked in Singleton for her entire religious life and died of typhoid 27 Jan 1895.
