Biography

Henry was born in 1752. Henry Pawling ... He passed away in 1836. [1] Captain Pawling was captured at Fort Montgomery and held as a prisoner of war in the prison ships in New York. He left a journal describing his capture and imprisonment that was transcribed in Mrs. Kitts' genealogy.[2]

Obituary

  • Captain Henry Paulding, a revolutionary soldier, died at Schenectady on the 29th ult. in the 84th year of his age. He was an officer in the revolutionary army during the contest for liberty; was a prisoner two years confined in the water prison ship, which was the grave of thousands. Wednesday, July 13, 1836; Evening Post (New York, New York) Page: 2.[3]
