Andrew Agnew was born in 1793, posthumously, the only son and child of Andrew Agnew and his new bride, Martha de Courcy. His father having died six months before his birth.

  • Succeeded to the title of 7th Baronet Agnew, of Lochnaw, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1629] on the 28th of June 1809.
  • Educated at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.
  • Educated at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.
  • Held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant in 1828.
  • He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire between 1830 and 1837.
  • Has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.[1]

Andrew wed Madeline Carnegie, daughter of Sir David Carnegie, at Wigtownshire, on the 11th of June 1816.[2][3]

Sir Andew Agnew, 7th Baronet Agnew of Lochnew passed away from Scarlet Fever, on the 12th of April 1849,[5] and was buried in the Grange Cemetery, Edinburgh.[6]
