Includes John Garner (1835-98), wife Alice Garner (1840-1925), their children: Mary A Garner (1860-61), Sarah A Garner (1863-65), Willie H Garner (1867-73), Charlie E Garner (1871-73) and John's uncle Aaron Garner (1834-1919) and Amelia Ashton Garner, John and Allen (1844-1925). John's twin daughters Minnie and Nettie (married Fogg and Wills) buried elsewhere?

"John Garner, Dealer in Fancy Groceries, Patent Medicines, Meats, and Provisions Passenger and Exchange Agent at 213 Park Street in Lewiston Maine. This well established Grocery and Provision House has a wide reputation for the jg fine stock of Staple and Fancy Groceries always to be found here This house was established by its present proprietor, John Garner, in 1864 and for the past quarter of a century has enjoyed a large and lucrative wholesale and retail trade extending among many of our leading families.

The premises occupied for the business are located at No. 218 Park Street and consist of one floor and basement each 95 x 15 feet in size where a very fine and attractive stock of Groceries and Provisions is carried including fine Teas, Coffees, Spices, the best brands of Flour, and Choice Meats and Provisions also a full line of Patent Medicines Mr Garner is also the sole agent in this vicinity for the celebrated Fleischmann & Co's Compressed Yeast Agent for Hecker's Self raising Flour also Passenger and Exchange Agent.

The steadily increasing trade of this house requires the services of five competent assistant and the business is transacted in an energetic and enterprising manner The store is finely arranged in all its departments and the attention to customers is all that could be asked for these with the reliability of the proprietor tend to preserve a business so well conducted as this Mr John Garner is a native of England and is one of Lewiston's most prominent citizens.

He is one of the directors of the Peoples Savings Bank of Lewiston and has been a member of the City Government four years as Alderman and Councilman He is also the President of the Lewiston and Auburn Grocers Association and a Justice of the Peace Mr Garner also belongs to the Masons Odd Fellows and Knights of Honor and can honestly say that during the quarter of a century he has been in business he has paid dollar for dollar.
