Biography

David was born July 7, 1756. He was the son of James McEwen and Isabella Miller. He passed away Nov. 23, 1821. ^[1]

The Rowan NC Deed Book 9, pg. 293 gives a deed from Christopher Ervin to his son-in-law, David McEwen dated May 1, 1773.

David McEwen married Margaret Erwin on Dec. 25, 1780 in North Carolina. She was born Aug. 7, 1761, the daughter of Christopher Erwin.

David McEwen of Statesville, North Carolina, with several other families, moved to Roper's Knob in Williamson Co., Tennessee on March 1, 1798 and that the grave of the father, James McEwen, is in Statesville, North Carolina. The family has the tradition that David McEwen, William McEwen and Daniel McEwen, after spending two years , 1797-8 in Nashboro (Nashville), while the Indians were being driven out of Williamson Co., settled in 1798 in Spencer's Creek, near what is now the site of Franklin.

David McEwen died Nov. 23, 1821.

Margaret (Erwin) McEwen died Dec. 7, 1822.
