Biography
Oliver Hastings was born 15 May 1791, Lincoln, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, son of Maj. Samuel Hastings and Lydia Nelson.
Oliver married first, on 10 Sept 1824, Eliza Bemis, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Eliza, daughter of Amos Bemis and Susan Fiske, was born 05 Aug 1798, Lincoln, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. To this union were born:
- Maria Hastings 1825–1847
- Caroline Hastings Henshaw 1834–1910
- Mary Augusta Hastings 1837–1838
Eliza died Oct. 4, 1837, (aged 39), Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
Oliver married second, on 28 Sept 1843, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Mrs. Huldah (Holmes) Trabo.[1] To this union were born:
- Mary Oliver Hastings Longstreth 1845–1914
- Edith Nelson Hastings 1850–1927
Oliver settled in Cambridge, and was a dealer in lumber.
Oliver died 8 Feb 1879 (aged 87), Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, and is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Plot: Mountain Avenue Lot 10, next to both wives.[2]
