Biography

Daughter of John Underwood and Rebecca Shattuck - she married Samuel Gale in Middlesex, MA - she is buried at Grove Hill Cem, Waltham, Middlesex, MA. Gale is listed by Family Search as having had seven children, but only three are listed as being by her, with two of them overlapping. This is and probably incorrect. There is no listed second wife or liaison for Gale, and all seven children were born in proximity to one another in time and place. Rebecca is buried in the cemetery of her husband, who predeceased her by many years. It would be strange for this to be so if he had 'run off' and had several children by another woman. Conclusion: she is most likely the mother of all seven.
