The widow Mary died at age 63 on 4 September 1729 in Ipswich, Massachusetts.[1] She is buried in the Old Burying Ground in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.[2]
THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF THE WIDOW MARY GOODHEW,
of Ipswich in the County of Esex in New England I Mary Goodhew being through Gods goodness of sound understand yet through weakness of body am put in mind of my grave and last change that i may not be in this respect unprepared I have made this my last will and testament as follows
I committ my soul into the hands of God who gave it me and my body to a decent buryall in hopes of a blessed resurrection through the power and strength of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and as for the outward things of this world which God hath bestowed upon me I do dispose of them in maner as followeth
My will is that all my lawfull debts be well and truly paid and then the remainder to be devided as followeth
My will is that my son William Goodhew and my son Joseph Goodhew shall have thirty shillings pad to each of them out of my estate and that is all they shall have out of my estate for they have had their part before.
I give my grandaughter Mary Haile twenty shillings to be paid her when she is eighteene years of age
I give unto my sister Elizabeth Louden a dubbel gownd and petticoat
I give unto my two sons Jonathan Goodhew and Benjamin Goodhew all my money it shall be equally divided between them two. My will is that my son Benjamin shall have one new coverlet and one new pair of shoes and one new pair of jodhobbers
My will is that the rest of my wearing cloths and house hold stuf shall be divided between my three daughters Mary Tillton and Sarah Treatwell and Elizabeth Haskell only my daughter Mary Tillton shall have halfe as much more as any one of her other sisters
I have a grete chair and a pair of handirons at my son William Goodhew which shall be divided with the rest of my things
And lastly I do appoint my son Benjamin Goodhew executor to this my last will and testament giving him full power to call in all my bonds and bills and other dew debts
in testimony that this is my last will and testament and hearby nul and make voide all former wills whatsoever I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the first day of September one thousand and seven hundred and twenty and nine
