Mrs. H. D. Meenk; aged 76 years, died at her home, 100 Olmstead St., in this city on Thursday. February 22, of cancer of the stomach. While she had not been well for some time, her illness was not considered serious until a few days before her demise. Cynthia Hewett was born in Ionia, Michigan, Nov. 20th, 1846, and while a child, came with her parents to Wisconsin, settling in Alto. She was marriedd to H. D. Meenk, Jan. 31, 1860, and lived in Alto a few years. For forty-five years they resided on a farm one mile south of Waupun and moved into the city about ten years ago. She leaves surviving besides her husband, three daughters, Mrs. John Hagan, of Plaza, N. D., Mrs. Herman Brasted, Milwaukee, Mrs. Herman Grams, Waupun; two sons Henry and Edward, Waupun; eleven grandchildren and one great grand child. Funeral services were held from the home on Monday at 2 o'clock, Rev. Paul Lewis of the Methodist chruch and Rev. Wm Walvoord of the Reformed church officiating. The bearers were C. Ploegman, Everett Lockhurst, Ira Brown, W. A. Bayley, Otto Lother, and William Welch. The music was furnished by the male quartet of the M. E. Church composed of Messrs. Hathaway, McElroy, Lewis and Gordon. Interment in Forest Mound cemetery. The very many beautiful floral tributes testified to the high esteem in which she was held in the community.
SHE WAS 76 YEARS OF AGE WAUPUN, Wis.. February 24---Mrs. Cynthia Hewett Meenk, wife of H. D. Meenk, died at her home, 100 Olmstead Street at 7:30 last evening, aged 76 years. She had suffered from cancer of the stomach for the past four years, but had only been confined to her bed for the past few days. Besides her husband Mrs. Meenk leaves three daughters, Mrs. John Hagan, of Plaza, North Dakota; Mrs. Harry Brasted of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Herman Grams of Waupon; two sons, Henry and Edward, of Waupon; eleven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Mrs. Meenk was born at Ionia, Michigan, November 20 1856. When she was ten years old she came with her parents to this vicinity, the family settleing on a farm at Alto. Sixty years ago on January 31 she was married to H. D. Meenk. For forth-five years they lived on a farm one mile south of Waupon and came to this city ten years ago. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hewett, Spencer Hewett, Alice, Georgie, and B. W. Hewett, Mrs. H. D. Meenk and Maude, Myrtle, and Henry Meenk, went to Brandon yesterday, to attend the funeral of S. B. Hewett, who died at that place Monday.
