Henry Russell, the son of MICHAEL RUSSELL, merchant, and HANNAH HENSHAW, was born on 8 August 1751 at Dover, Kent, England. He was baptised on 11 September 1751 at Dover, Kent.[2]
Marriage 1 He married Ann Amelia Skinner on 1 August 1776.
Marriage 2 He married Anne Barbara Whitworth on 23 July 1782.[3] They had children:
In 1797 Russell was knighted and appointed a judge of the Bengal Supreme Court. He arrived in India in 1798 and lived at Chowringhee, Calcutta.
In 1812 he was created 1st Baronet Russell of Swallowfield, co. Berkshire in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. The following year he returned to England permanently, living in London.
In the mid 1820s he purchased Swallowfield Park in Berkshire.
Henry Russell died in 1836.
He was buried at All Saints Churchyard, Swallowfield, Wokingham Borough, Berkshire.[4]

Appears to have been created a baronet in 1812, when still living in India, but did not take ownership of Swallowfield Park until the 1820s. The designation "of Swallowfield" may have been retrospectively added to the Baronetcy roll.
