George S. Patton IV was born in 1923 and died on 27 Jun 2004 in Massachusetts. [1] He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. [2][3][4][5]
He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. His decorations included the Distinguished Service Cross with one oak leaf cluster, the Silver Star with one oak leaf cluster, the Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Purple Heart. [6][7][8][9]
He retired from the US Army at the rank of major general (2 stars).
He saw combat in Korea and Vietnam, where he was wounded. He retired from the military and lived in Hamilton, Massachusetts, where he started a farm and named the fields after soldiers who died under his command while in Vietnam.
