1. ↑ My brother has been doing genealogical research for years and writing many family histories about our ancestors. Our ancestor John Wheeler in Greenville County, South Carolina was involved in several real estate transactions with a Taylor and became suspicious it was perhaps John Wheeler's father-in-law but he could not prove it. On one of the deeds an Ignatious Wheeler was the witness which made Phil realize there was a link between our Wheeler family and the Wheeler in Charles County, Maryland that were Catholic. That is the only place in colonial America that an Ignatious Wheeler could be found. He finally found a marriage record for Ignatious Wheeler and Mary Taylor and that seemed to be the family connection so he wrote it as such in his research.
   
   Over the next twenty or so years other researchers decided that Ignatius Wheeler who witnessed the deed of John Wheeler was the same person as John Wheeler and changed his name to John Ignatious Wheeler married to Mary Taylor. There are many instances of the name Mary Amaryllis in the Wheeler family so another researcher decided that must be Mary Taylor's middle name with NO PROOF. All this was concluded giving no additional sources to prove their claim. Not that it really matters but the name Mary Amaryllis first appears in our McMakin and not our Wheeler family. I did find that a little funny.
   
   This leaves us with a fairy tale pasted together by the imagination of people who have no original research or proof. They read the research of my brother Phil who concluded that John Wheeler and Ignatious Wheeler were different people and that the Ignatious Wheeler who witnessed the deed was likely the same John Wheeler who married Mary Taylor.
   
   Since looking at everything that has been provided I can only say that there is no document giving the name of any wife of John Wheeler. Based upon the number of children and the range of dates I suspect he was probably married at least twice.
   
   PLEASE STOP LINKING MARY AMARYLLIS TAYOR TO JOHN WHEELER!
   
   You should add Mary Taylor as the spouse of Ignatious Wheeler who witnessed the deed of John Wheeler. If you can provide PROOF that they were married please send it to me and I will be glad to link them myself. You should also remove the middle name Amaryllis which is not in the marriage record to Ignatious Wheeler unless you can provide PROOF for that as well. THANK YOU.
