Early pioneer of colour photography
Sarah Angelina Acland was born in 1849 at Oxford in Oxfordshire. She was the daughter of Henry Acland and his wife Sarah, born Sarah Cotton. [1] [2]
In 1851 Sarah A. Acland was living at 41 Broad Street in Oxford with her parents Henry W. and Sarah and their other children. Her age was given as 1, implying a birth date in 1849 or 1850. [There are some extra marks which may be intended to give a more precise age; they are not sufficiently clear for a useful interpretation.] Her birthplace was given as Oxford, Oxfordshire. [2]
Sarah's mother died in 1878.
In 1881 Sarah was living at 39-41 Broad Street in Oxford. She was the only member of the family present, but there were 7 domestic servants in the house. Her age was given as 31, implying a birth date in 1849 or 1850. Her birthplace was given as Oxford, Oxfordshire. She was described as housekeeper to her father (although this has been crossed out.)
