Biography

Sarah's surname is listed as Whorton but marriage took place at Thomas Horton's home. This lead Brenda Cockrum Gravitt to wonder if her last name is Whorton/Wharton/Horton. Additonal research needed to find the answer. There is a John Whorton that has been associated with the Simmons and Cochran/Cockrum families, so I think he may be related to Sarah Whorton. This same name appears as wife of Phillips father, John Coleman. How many Sarah Whorton's can there be? Also, one of Eliza Cochran Simmons mothers ancestors comes from the Whorton family.
