Biography

Thomas Marland Cogswell is the son of Francis Cogswell and Mary Sykes Marland. He is the twin brother of Benjamin Punchard Cogswell.

All records that exist during Thomas' childhood show he was born March 16 1845. All records that exist during Thomas' adulthood show he was born July 17 1844 (making him older). Perhaps he changed his birthdate to enlist in the military early?

There is a conflict that his Christening date is 27 Oct 1844 in the Christ Church records, which is before the March 16 1845 birthdate.
