Catherine (Alexander) Rutherfurd is a member of Clan Rutherford.
Catherine, the third daughter of James and Mary Alexander, born December 4, 1724, married first Elisha, son of John Parker and Janet Johnston, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The favorite route from New-York to the Jerseys was by way of the Amboy ferry, and we find entered in the diaries of James Alexander and Walter Rutherfurd, "First day got to Amboy and passed the night with the Parkers." The intimacy between the families has continued to the present time. Elisha Parker studied law in James Alexander's office, was licensed to practise 1745, and
died March 14, 1751, in his 47th year.
Catherine Parker married secondly, Walter Rutherfurd, sixth son of Sir John Rutherfurd and Elizabeth Cairncross, of Edgerston, Roxburghshire, Scotland.
