Biography

Abigail (Friend) Long

Abigail Friend, daughter of Abigail W. (Carter) Friend & John Friend was born the 13th of October, 1807 in Sedgwick, Hancock, Massachusetts (later Maine). Grand-daughter of Benjamin Friend of Blue HIll, Hancock, Maine, who died the day she was born.

Abigail had grandmother Martha Dodge Friend, 4 uncles named Friend (3 of which lived in Blue Hill, 1 lived in Sedgwick) as well as 6 aunts named Martha Eaton, Phebe Carter, Bethia Dunham, Mary Grindle, Sarah Candage & Naomi Friend.

Below is a listing of Abigail's husband Joel Long Junior's family, beginning with his father Joel Long Senior, founder of East Blue HIll. Joel Long Senior was the son of Mary Closson & a British soldier surnamed Long. As a baby Joel (Senior) was adopted & raised by Mercy Closson & Andrew Herrick who married about the time that Joel Sr was born.

Joel II had 6 brothers & sisters but I haven't found them yet.
