Biography

James was born on 24 April 1855 in Lafayette, Arkansas, United States. He was the son of Fortunatus Pittman and Ellen Elizabeth (Eskridge) Pittman. ^[1]

In 1870, James was living in Warren, Columbia, Arkansas. ^[1]

When James was 33 he married Lilla Viola Drake on 13 May 1888 in Lafayette, Arkansas. The couple had 10 children: Cleo V Pittman, James H Pittman, Perry Drake Pittman, Henry Pittman, Myrtle J Pittman, Emma Pittman, Dewey May Pittman, Lydia Viola Pittman, Floralee Pittman and Paul Pittman. ^[2]

In 1900, James was living in Justice Precinct 5 (south half excl. Deleon town), Comanche, Texas. ^[3]

In 1920, James was living in Abilene, Taylor, Texas. ^[4]

In 1928, according to a city directory, James was living in Abilene, Texas. ^[5]

In 1930, James was living in Ranger, Eastland, Texas. ^[6]
