B. 1760 D.1844 Married to Polly Gordon 1781. He was born in 1760 in Virginia and died in 1840 in Campbell County, Georgia. He married Polly Gordon. They had the following children: James J., John, Stephen, William, Isaac, Thomas and David. All of the children were born in Anson County, North Carolina. born in Virginia about 1760 and lived there with his parents until he was about 16 years old. Went to NC and there served in the NC Militia. After the Revolutionary War, he met and married a Miss Polly Gordon and they had seven known sons. John also served in the war of 1812. Sometime before 1820, John and his family moved to Georgia where he appeared in the 1820 census of Hall County. John then moved to Fayette County, Georgia and on July 1, 1843 was granted 202 acres of land in Carroll county. The best source of information on this line is Jim Meggs, 1820 Windhill Avenue, Edmond, OK, 73034. He published his many years of research on the Meggs Family in 1995. Some say she was born in NC, others say VA. The name of her father is given as Amos Gordon. She married John T Meggs in 1781. Her first child was James Meggs, born 1787 in Anson Co., NC. She was the mother of 7 known sons. She died in Carroll Co., GA ca.1840-44
