Biography
James G. Sturgis was born on 3 December 1771 in Gorham, Maine. His parents were Jonathan Sturgis and Temperance (Gorham) Sturgis[1].
He married Mary "Molly" Roberts on 6 November 1792 in Gorham[2]. They had eight children[3]:
- 1. Susan, born 14 Dec 1794; married Solomon Libby
- 2. Mary W., born 19 Aug 1796; married John Littlefield
- 3. Temperance G., born 4 Aug 1798; married Joseph Cannell
- 4. William R., born 4 Feb 1801; married Joan McDonald
- 5. Abigail, born 23 Apr 1803; married James McDonald Jr.
- 6. John, born 2 Jul 1805; married Mary Purinton
- 7. Ebenezer G., born 3 Dec 1807; married Mary Ann Babb
- 8. Benjamin R., born 18 Jan 1811; married Keziah Elder
James passed away on 16 February 1825 in Gorham[4] and is buried in White Rock Cemetery.
