Biography

Dexter, son of Asa Wheeler and Sarah Thompson, was born on 26 Jun 1797 at Marlborough, Middlesex County, MA.[1][2] Dexter died on 7 Sep 1853 at Westfield, Chautauqua County, NY, and was buried in Westfield Cemetery there.[2][3]

On 29 May 1822, Dexter m. Jane McCLINTOCK (poss. b. 14 Jan 1802, Springfield PA; d. 7 Sep 1850; d/o Thomas McClintock and Mary Smith); children (surname WHEELER):[2]

The 1850 census of Westfield, Chautauqua County, NY, enumerated 5 Aug 1850, listed Dexter Whelor (52, blacksmith, b. NY) and Jane (49, b. PA) along with their children Mary 19, Martha 17, Henry 15, James 12, Edwin 8, and Albert 4.[6]
