Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1753, the daughter of Joseph Bass and Elizabeth Searle of Dorchester, Mass^{[1] [2] [3] [4]}

On December 8, 1883, she married Rev. Jonathan Scott, a widower, in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia^{[2] [4] [3]}, and their children included:

1. Joseph, born June 5, 1785^{[3] [4]}, who died at Minot in 1800
2. Elizabeth, born December 29, 1786^{[3] [4]}, who died in 1869, unmarried
3. Lucy, born March 10, 1788^{[3] [4]}, who died in 1793
4. Benjamin, born September 10, 1789^{[3] [4]}
5. George, born August 21, 1791^{[3] [4]}, who was lost at sea in 1825
6. Mary, born March 6, 1793^{[3] [4]}, who married John Scales
7. Sylvanus, born October 24, 1795^{[3] [4]}, who died in 1807

In 1795, Jonathan and Elizabeth moved to Bakerstown, now Minot, Maine, where he served as pastor until his death (and conducted another 113 marriages)^[2]

Reverend Jonathan Scott died October 15, 1819. His widow Elizabeth (Bass) Scott died at Minot May 14, 1843, at age 90^[2], and was buried in the Scott Family graveyard in Minot^[5]
