Benjamin Franklin Isbell was born on 14 Sep 1822 in Pickens, South Carolina, United States, son of Livingston Isbell (1788 - 1823) and Mary (Rowan) Isbell (1788 - 1858).
His siblings were:

- Samuel Rowan Isbell (~1813 - 1877)
- James M. Isbell (1820 - 1875)
Benjamin married Mary Elizabeth Garner (~1826 - ~1880). Their son was George Washington Isbell (1847 - 1899).
Benjamin died about Sep 1869 in Polk, Georgia aged ~47.
