Martha was born in 1638. Martha is the child of Sir john Temple and Mary Hammond. She was baptised 28 August 1638, Penshurst, Kent[1]
Her mother Mary died shortly after giving birth to Martha and her twin brother Henry.
Martha married Thomas Giffard in Dublin on 21 April 1662.[2] Thomas died just one month later.
Martha spent the rest of her life living with her brother William and his wife Dorothy and contributed to a history of his life and work.[3]
She died in 1722 and is remembered on a memorial in Westminster with William, Dorothy and Diana, William and Dorothy's daughter.[4]
