Biography

Robert was a Friend (Quaker)

Born in 1787, Robert Bunker was the son of Francis Bunker and Eunice Macy.

He first married Phebe Worth, on 2 Apr 1806 at Claverack[1]; she died less than a year later, on 5 Mar 1807 when their daughter, also named Phebe, was born.

On 1 Mar 1809, he married Elizabeth Macy, also at Claverack [1]. They had eleven children.

Both marriages were recorded in the Hudson Monthly Meeting Records. On 25 June 1811, the family received a certificate to remove from Hudson to DeRuyter, with their daughter Phebe [1]. On 25 April 1838, the family obtained a removal certificate from DeRuyter to Farmington; this certificate lists Robert, wife Elizabeth, and their seven minor children: Simeon, Reuben, Lydia, Robert M., Susannah, Luther B., and Julia Ann[2]. The certificate was read and accepted by the Hicksite Society of Friends at Farmington Monthly Meeting on 21 June 1838 [3].

Robert died on 30 Oct 1855 and was buried at Batavia Cemetery in Branch County, Michigan[4]. Robert died intestate, and his son, Luther, petitioned for appointment of an administrator on 26 Jan 1856. Robert's widow, Elizabeth, and James Murphy served as administrators of the the estate [5].
